100 Years Anniversary of the Municipal House

One hundred years have passed since January 5, 1912 when the most stunning Prague Art Nouveau building, the Municipal House was opened to public for the first time.
It was meant to be a center of Czech culture and intelligence as a counter back to the German houses and cultural centers in Prague those days.
And it has for sure fulfilled its purpose while hosting many exhibitions of famous Czech artists, social events and concerts through these years.
Not only has it been the scene of cultural and social events but it has taken its part also in politics – Independent Czechoslovakia was declared from the Municipal House balcony in October 28, 1918 and the first key negotiation meetings between Communist party and Obcanske forum party led by Vaclav Havel took place in Municipal House salons in November 1989.

The French restaurant located on the ground floor or the Municipal House prepared a special celebration menu for this occasion and cooperates with another famous Czech products that is celebrating its one hundred and ten years anniversary – the Moser glasses from Paula collection.
